Last week's reflection centered on a simple truth: only action moves us forward. This week, we build on that foundation by asking a bigger question:
"How do I turn that action-mindset into becoming truly AI-Leading — regardless of background, role, or starting point?" "Where do I even start?" "How do I begin working differently in an AI driven workplace?" "What does this mean for me as an individual, consultant, or leader?"
The answer is surprisingly simple: You start with yourself. Not with a roadmap. Not with a strategy deck. Not with a program. Not with tooling. You.
Because in AI driven environments, the biggest bottleneck is rarely the technology. It's the people, meaning you and me. Our habits, our literacy, our comfort zones, our ability to think, test, learn, and adapt quickly.
So here's the real starting point: The journey begins with you and me — your literacy, your mindset, and your daily execution.
1. Start With YOU
Before AI becomes part of your company's DNA, it must first become part of your daily rhythm. You don't need permission or a program. You need curiosity — and 20 focused minutes.
Three weekly commitments:
- Try one new AI workflow.
- Question one assumption.
- Replace one manual activity with an AI-assisted one.
Small or big — action beats theory. Always.
2. Build Literacy — Functional, Not Perfect
Being AI-Leading does not mean becoming an expert. It means understanding what's possible and when to trust (or not trust) AI.
"Do I understand what's possible?" This is your foundation. You don't need to be an expert — you need functional literacy.
What good literacy looks like:
- You know when AI is reliable vs. when you must double-check
- You can break a task into smaller pieces for AI to accelerate
- You understand risks: privacy, hallucinations, bias, data exposure
- You can evaluate AI output with critical thinking
- You know which AI tools apply to your daily work
How to build it:
- 10 minutes daily "tinker time"
- Practice on your real tasks, not theoretical examples
- Compare: AI result → your result → better result together
3. Advocacy
"Do I talk about it? Do I show it?" Advocacy is not hype. It's modeling the behavior you want others to adopt.
Be an internal multiplier:
- Share your working examples in meetings
- Show colleagues how you prototyped something fast
- Normalize learning in public
- Replace excuses with experiments
When you demonstrate value, others follow.
4. Orientation
"Do I know where the opportunities are?" AI driven is not "use AI everywhere." It is: use AI where leverage is highest.
Find leverage by scanning for:
- Tasks that take too long
- Repetitive or manual moments
- Slow decision cycles
- Bottlenecks caused by handovers
- Friction in the customer/user journey
- Documentation nobody has time to update
- Things you dread doing
These are your entry points.
5. Implementation
"Am I acting on it every week?" AI only matters when it shows up in your results.
Weekly Implementation Loop:
- Choose one task to speed up with AI
- Prototype (10–30 minutes)
- Validate quickly — does this save time? Reduce risk? Improve quality?
- Document the workflow in 3 bullet points
- Share with your team
- Repeat next week
This is how the organization compounds capability.
6. Metrics That Matter (Simple + Universal)
You don't need dashboards; you need direction. Measure your own improvement with:
- Cycle time to learning — how fast do you validate an idea?
- Time saved per workflow — is your day lighter or heavier?
- Quality of decisions — are you better informed?
- ARR/FTE mindset — are you delivering more value with the same effort?
If these move in the right direction, you are working in an AI driven way.
What You're Left With
I'll leave you with this:
AI Driven isn't an organizational strategy. It's a personal discipline.
If you wait for permission, you're already behind. If you wait for the program rollout, you've missed the window. If you wait to feel ready, you won't.
Start with literacy. Practice advocacy. Shift your orientation. Implement weekly.
Start with you — because you are the bottleneck, and you are the breakthrough.
